“THE DEVIL’S IN THE DETAILS” explores the sensory perspective world view experienced by a 9-year-old boy named Josh. It delves into the richly layered tapestry of his daily life as his brain struggles to find peace and calm within the myriad of stimuli bombarding his senses. Josh is hyper-sensitive to sounds, textures, colours and light. He struggles to maintain eye contact and flaps his hand uncontrollably when he feels stressed or excited. Josh gets lost in the details because he gets over stimulated so easily and he relies on rituals and routines to bring order to the chaos and confusion that exist in his everyday experience. Anna is working as a cleaning lady. Every night she cleans Helen’s office. Helen is a high-level broker working in the stock exchange. The two women live in different worlds and normally would never meet each other. This is how “Tanz ins Glück” was created – a lesbian fairytale. Neither “lesbian” nor “fairytale” are criteria which make a producer happy. However, I found the combination thrilling. When I was a child, my parents told me the tales of a poor girl and a wealthy prince. I loved the part, when he comes with his white horse to take the girl home to his castle. Only later I realised that there is a lack of lesbian couples in fairy tales. In fact there are none. I decided to create a modern one: Cinderella is a cleaning woman, the Princess a broker working in stock exchange. Their social differences remain as big as when the original tale was written. In “Tanz ins Glück” they overcome the social boarders. Because, like in all fairy tales, “they all lived happily ever after”.

Outside the window a storm like no other is taking shape. BEHIND THE SHADOWS documents the imagined moment when the delicate balance between natural and developed worlds began to shift. Looking back upon an event yet to occur, time inside this threatened world is caught in an endless loop. Seeming to have no end, it stutters… repeats… extends. As if caught in a void between dream and reality, characters struggle to reconcile threats from the outside environment Inspired by natural disaster horror movies, BEHIND THE SHADOWS examines how popular media has shaped our understandings of fear. Commissioned by The Images Festival as a part of SHIFT Festival of the Arts, the piece premiered at the Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ concert hall in Amsterdam in November of 2008.

Through a dense mist we emerge into a foggy marshland. Slowly and achingly a mysterious landscape is revealed. Foghorns and sharp cuts jolt the meandering sense of place and memory, creating a sense of unease and anxiety within (Images Festival). (Note: First minute is a one-minute still frame.)

“TOILET” is public bathroom sex caught on tape. “TOILET” happens everyday, everywhere – life can be filthy. “TOILET” was performed live in April 1996 at Toronto’s Rivoli Cafe. “TOILET” uses live action, surveillance camera technique and late 1960’s pornography. “TOILET” is raw. “TOILET” is sleazy little stag film for artists.
